The Social-Democrat board met on Wednesday the county leaders throughout the country, in order to open a debate on possible early elections and to establish a date for the party National Council meeting. PSD head Mircea Geoana was the central attraction, after his meeting with Prime Minister Calin Popescu Tariceanu, when Geoana suggested early elections - general elections on the same date with the local elections.

After more than 90 minutes of negotiations, Geoana has not received any firm answer from Tariceanu.

Geoana's idea to have the general and the local elections on the same date is not very popular among his party's members. Honorary PSD president Ion Iliescu even said on Tuesday that "Geoana mixed the thinks up a little bit. PSD is not ready for elections".
