25 non governmental oragnizations (NGOs) protest against a draft law adopted yesterday by Romania's House of Deputies that ban foundations and associations from using words that can create confusion with authorities or public institutions. The law was voted by all parliamentary political parties present.

The NGO's consider that the voted law is ambiguous and offer authorities the possibility to refuse granting legal personality to any foundation. Thus, the organizations urge authorities to revoke their vote and leave the law unchanged as its text was much clearer.

Organization's representatives argue that the modifications, siggested by the government and adopted by the Parliament infringe civil rights and resemble laws adopted in Russia in the last two years. The organizations urge Romanian President Traian Basescu not to promulgate the law.
