Nobody is entitled to criticize my candidates in Cluj, Social Democratic (PSD) Secretary General and electoral campaign manager Miron Mitrea declared at the weekly BBC-HotNews.ro debate this weekend. Mitrea added that the party's candidates will not be defeated as they are better at relating with the locals. Moreover, he is confident that his party colleagues, local tycoons will win elections. Mitrea said that his party colleague Sorin Oprescu who plans to run on independent lists in local elections in early June will eventually run for the seat of Bucharest mayor.

The PSD campaign director says that his party did not change and will endorse those candidates who will be able to win elections. However, local candidates in Cluj were investigated by anti-graft prosecutors for illicit business practices or other illegal acts.

Even so, Mitrea said that those files were politically instrumented and therefore have no importance whatsoever. When asked about the PSD's rival candidates in Cluj Mitrea declared that even if they are clean and exceptional, they nevertheless manage to lose every time.

Plus, Mitrea said that PSD Senator Oprescu's candidacy on an independent list will disadvantage his party in the elections as he will pull out votes from both the Social Democrats and Democrat Liberals.

He added that Oprescu was not pressured or lured by the party to give up his candidacy for the Bucharest Mayor seat. He confirmed that he might receive the Health ministry because of his experience but not as a bribe for not running independently.
