Voters turnout reached 7.01% across Romania by 10 a.m. in local elections on Sunday, the head of Central Electoral Office has announced. According to statistics, turnout in urban areas stood at 5.5% in average, while it rose to 9.04% in average in rural areas.

The highest turnout was reported in the southern counties of Teleorman, Ilfov and Giurgiu, while the lowest in the Central Romanian county of Sibiu and Maramures in the north.

In Bucharest, 4.05% of voters showed up by 10 a.m., with the lowest turnout in District 3 (3.12%) and the highest in District 2 (4.80%).
