Voters turnout in local elections across Romania on Sunday stood at 23.26% at country level by 2 p.m., a spokesman for the Central Electoral Office has announced. According to statistics, voter presence in urban areas has reached 19.31%, while 28.72% of voters in rural areas showed up and voted.

The highest presence was reported in the counties of Ilfov, Giurgiu and Dambovita in the south while the lowest was reported in the counties Timis, Maramures and Satu Mare in Western and Northern Romania.

In Bucharest, turnout was as low as 14.84% by 2 p.m, with the highest turnout in District 2 (16.84%) and the lowest in District 3 (12.44%).
