Some 34.20% of Romanian voters showed up at polling stations across the country in local elections by 5 p.m., according to the Central Electoral Office. According to statistics, voter turnout in urban areas stood at 27.2% while in rural areas it rose to 43.87% in the late afternoon.

The highest turnout was reported in the counties of Ilfov, Giurgiu and Teleorman, with the lowest in Timis, Maramures and Galati.

In Bucharest, only 20.88% of voters showed up by 5 p.m., with the highest presence in District 2 (23.05%) and the lowest in District 3 (18.56%).
