Local post-electoral alliances gain ground, mostly between Social Democrats (PSD) and the governing Liberals (PNL) across Romania: in some 11 counties PSD members joined forces with their PNL colleagues to counter the influence of Romanian President Traian Basescu's party, the Democrat Liberals (PD-L).

However, there is one county where Social Democrats joined forces with their Democrat Liberal colleagues, in Vilcea. Even though temporary, the county council majorities won in the June 1 local elections start to reshuffle due to these post-electoral strategies.

In counties where Democrat Liberals won the County Council presidency, the other parties have signed an agreement, thus managing to turn the electoral results upside down: majorities change and tension installed.
