The exit poll results at 21:00,  the closing time for the general elections voting process, indicate Social Democrats as winners in the race for the Senate seats, with 35.9% of the votes, followed by Democrat Liberals (31.1%) and Liberals (19.9%), according to the Insomar survey.
The CCSB survey estimates 36.5% for Social Democrats, 30.6% for Democrat Liberals and 20.4% for Liberals. The Hungarian Democrats won 6.7%, the same CCSB survey estimates, the far-right Greater Romania Party - 2.5% and the New Generation Party - 1.7%. The threshold for political representation in the Parliament is 5%.
Insomar exit poll for the House of Deputies: Social-Democrats (PSD) - 36.2%, Democrat Liberals (PD-L) - 30.3%, Liberals (PNL) - 20.4%, Hungarian Democrats (UDMR) - 6.7%, Greater Romania (PRM) - 3.3%, New Generation Party - 2.1%.
CCSB exit poll for the House of Deputies: PSD -PC: 36.5%, PD-L - 30.6%, PNL 20.4%, UDMR - 6.7, PRM 2.5

The alliance formed by the Social Democrats and Conservatives (PSD-PC) won the first scrutiny organized in the uninominal voting system. The Hungarian Democrats are once again a Parliamentarian party, the far-right Greater Romania Party is out of the political stage for a while, while the New Generation Party proved to be an insignificant player.

After the rough electoral campaign before the elections, the dispute between the three main parties seem irreconcilable, so there is still impossible to foresee the structure of the future Government. With the effects of the international financial and economic crisis only a step away from peaking in Romania, the creation of a new Cabinet is critical.
At this moment, any of the candidates may become Prime Minister - Liberal Calin Popescu Tariceanu, Social Democrat Mircea Geoana or Democrat Liberal Theodor Stolojan.

UPDATE 2: Turnout at 21:00h - 39.26% nationwide, 30.37% in Bucharest. Average turnout in urban environment - 35.63%, average in rural areas - 44.24%.
