The president of the Social Democrat Party (PSD), Mircea Geoana, thinks that the future European Commissioner designated by Romania should be an important political figure, qualified enough to obtain an important mandate. Of course, he / she should be a PSD member. Mircea Geoana says the nominations could be announced on Thursday, but that the final decision belongs to the governing coalition.

The statement came during a meeting between Mircea Geoana and the Bundestag vice president, Susanne Kastner.

"We are not hiding our intention to suggest a commissioner who will join the socialist group within the European Union. I shall discuss this matter during the meeting with the socialist leaders on Thursday".

According to Geoana, a portfolio meeting Romania's desires would be one regarding the economy, the infrastructure or the agriculture.
