Incumbent President Traian Basescu starts today his two days official visit to France, honouring French President Nicolas Sarkozy’s invitation. Romanian head of state declared, on Monday morning, that one of the chief objectives of this visit is strengthening the Strategic Partnership signed by the two countries in Bucharest last year. Traian Basescu will attend meetings with President Nicolas Sarkozy and French Prime-Minister François Fillon, according to NewsIn.

The visit to France will also see President Basescu meeting the president of the National Assembly of France Bernard Accoyer and the general secretary of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) Angel Gurria. Traian Basescu will also take part in a business forum, organised by the French Patronage Federation MEDEF. He will meet Romanian French diasopora members, as well. On Tuesday, president Basescu will visit the nuclear power station in Flamanville.

Romania’s President is accompanied by Foreign Affairs minister Cristian Diaconescu, Transports Minister Radu Berceanu, Tourism minister Elena Udrea and the Economy minister Adriean Videanu.
