Parliamentary sources told HotNews.ro on Wednesday that should President Traian Basescu reject their nomination of Sibiu mayor Klaus Johannis for prime minister, the Social Democrats (PSD), Liberals (PNL) and Hungarian Democrats (UDMR) consider to force the president accept their position by a joint statement of the Parliament.

That is, the new coalition formed of the three parties want to use an article of the parliamentary rules which says that the Senate and the House convene in common sessions for joint statements, messages and other political acts.

PSD, PNL and UDMR would thus plan to adopt a political statement by which, as a parliamentary majority, to declare Johannis the candidate of the Parliament for prime minister.
