The Russian ambassador in Bucharest Alexander Churilin declared on Tuesday that too much fuss was made on Mircea Geoana's secret visit to Moscow, Romanian news agency Agerpress reads. "Mr. Geoana is a Romanian politician who visited not only Moscow, but other world main cities as well, and I can't see the point for discussions", Alexander Churilin stated.

The Russian ambassador in Romania added that Russia follows "with great interest" the elections in Romania. He explained that the Romanian state holds an advantageous position for being part of the European Union and for being neighbour and partner for East Europe and Russia.

"I recommend a more intense activity both with the Occident and with Russia" ambassador Alexander Churilin said in Dumbraveni, where he laid flowers at the general A.V. Suvorov monument.
