Ten Romanian senators representing the governing Democratic Liberal Party (PDL) allegedly plan to resign from the group and form, in a first step, a new group of independent senators, parliamentary sources quoted said on Friday, as quoted by news agency Mediafax.

The sources said that beside the senators three deputies - other than the one who already announced his resignation last week - may also resign.

Representatives of the PDL contacted by HotNews.ro dismissed the allegations and described them as a scenario aimed at rising tension within the group.
