The head of the IG Metall labor union in Nordrhein-Westfalia, Oliver Burkhard, wants to continue the fight for the Nokia factory in Bochum, still he considers that the boycott against the brand is not an efficient instrument. Taking advantage on the Carnival, when almost anything is allowed, the Germans launched the Anti Nokia Song 2008.

"It is not possible to have the same people who were awarded for the quality of their work sent now to unemployment. It is about greed and profit. Nowhere in the world can people feel safe with their jobs if Nokia doesn't change its policy right now" said Burkhard for RP online.

Burkhard added that the handy production in Bochum may remain competitive with a 14.2 million euro investment. The money would be enough for two modern assembly lines. The profit of the factory was 7.2 million euro in 2007.
