Gazprom announces that starting with April 1, 2008 it increased its gas prices for Republic of Moldova. Therefore, Chisinau will pay from now on 211 dollars for a thousand meters of gas, Rador informs. Moldova Gaz President Ghenadie Abaskin argues that an exact price will be set on April 10 when all necessary data will be gathered.
According to the contract signed with Gazprom, the gas price for Moldova is to be calculated quarterly. On December 2007, the two involved parties convened that Moldova should receive the gas for 190 dollars and now, Gazprom announces its price increase.
The debt of the Republic of Moldova for natural gas exceed 1.4 billion dollars of which, 1.2 billion correspond to Transniester.
