The European Commission cut from its Commissioners' Agenda the suggestion to notify the European Communities Court of Justice for the first car registration tax imposed in Romania, an official press release informs. The decision is due to the recent adoption of the Romanian Government to modify the tax.

The infringement procedure opened by the European Commission against Romania is suspended at this moment and will be closed for good after the current modifications to the tax are adopted as law, the European Affairs Department informs.

The infringement procedure was opened in March 2007 and reached its second stage at the end of November 2007.
