A second American aircraft carrier was on its way to the Persian Gulf as Pentagon order commanders to provide new plans to attack Iran, according to CBSNews.com. The same source reports that Iran, the second biggest OPEC oil producer, has ended oil transactions in US dollars and moved to yen and euro.

According to CBSNews.com, the Pentagon's request was prompted by the "increasingly hostile role" Iran plays in Iraq by delivering weapons to rebels fighting US troops there.

US officials are also worried about recent incidents involving US and Iranian ships in the Persian Gulf as well as what they call the continuation of Iran's nuclear program.

US reporters say that despite all these an attack against Iran is not imminent and is seen by Pentagon only as a move of last resort.
