The third Russian President Dmitri Medvedev was officially named in office in Moscow on Tuesday. The new head of the state was sworn in in a ceremony where a special edition of the Constitution was used. He had received the official mandate last night, without witnesses, the Russian Gazeta.ru reads.

Aged 42, Medvedev is the youngest Russian President in the history of the state. He was elected with 70% of the cast votes in presidential elections earlier this year.

The official ceremony hosts some 2000 people including diplomatic representatives to Moscow. Among those present is former teacher and German professor of Vladimir Putin, Vera Gurevich, Putin's judo trainer, current Sankt Petersburg university dean, Ludmila Verbitkaya.
