American president George W. Bush asked for an immediate ceasing of the conflict that burst this morning in the Greater Caucasus area. The statement made by Bush came after a meeting with Prime Minister Vladimir Putin in the Chinese capital city, where the two leaders participate in the opening of the Olympic Games.

The US president met the Russian PM a few hours before the official opening of the Olympic Games, analyzing the situation in Georgia and South Ossetia.

"We had the opportunity to discuss the subject with both our Chinese partners and the US president and we all said in one voice that no one needs a war", said Putin in a meeting with the Kazakhstan president, Nursultan Nazarbaev.
