BBC named Romanian Razvan Scortea as BBC Africa head for the French service and BBC Great Lakes head, a press release of the BBC World Service informs quoted by AFP. Scortea will take over both the administrative and editorial responsibilities of the two networks that operate in over 20 states in Africa.

BBC Africa runs in French language in 23 French speaking countries on 4 different time zones while BBC Great Lakes targets the public in Rwanda, Burundi and other isolated states. Scortea ran BBC Romania for five years.
