British authorities plan to extend work restrictions for Romanian and Bulgarian citizens

The British government fears that the European economic crisis will lead to a new wave of immigrants coming to Britain and plans to extend the working restrictions for Romanian and Bulgarian citizens, Sunday Mirror informs, quoted by Romanian news agency NewsIn. The British government fears that, due to the crisis, immigrants will come to Great Britain desperately searching for a work place, according to the source. 

The Interior ministry is pressured to open up the gates for Romanian and Bulgarian citizens, The Sunday Mirror informs. The new immigration minister, Phil Woolas is decided to resist all calls to change regulations. Britain's regulations expire in December 2008. Woolas declared that a balance must be found between the needs of British companies and migration waves.
