A Romanian sued the British company PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) from London, where she was employed for two years for racial discrimination, British daily The Telegraph reads. The woman demands 40 billion pounds as moral damages, a record sum.

Mihaela Popa, a 31 year old Romania, settled in Great Britain, was hired as judicial accountant in London, at PwC for two years, from 2004 to 2006. The woman declared that while she was employed she was discriminated against and as the treatment became unbearable, she had to resign.

Moreover, Popa declared that even though she was highly qualified, she would receive only basic tasks unlike her British colleagues, who, even though they were less skilled, received the most important tasks.

Popa declared that she felt like a prostitute from Eastern Europe because of the behavior of her colleagues. One of her direct bosses told her that somebody has to do the dirty stuff as well, when Popa demanded more serious tasks.

According to her, she had every chance of becoming a partner in the branch, and would have gained at least 500,000 pounds per year plus bonusses. She declared that when she was hired, her employers told her that she has the potential to become a full fledged partner in the company.
