The Russian Ambassador to the EU has called on European countries to take preventive measures should a new natural gas transit crisis evolve, AFP reports. He urged the EU during a video conference to actively join preventive measures including financial support to secure a continuous transit of energy resources.

Russian President Dmitri Medvedev would discuss the issue at the EU-Russia summit in Stockholm later this month, he said. Russian PM warned on Wednesday that Russia would reduce natural gas deliveries to Europe via Ukraine should Kiev continue to take gas illegally and fail to pay the bills.
