Moldavian Supreme Court of Justice president Ion Muruianu was sacked on Thursday, Jurnal de Chisinau informs on its electronic edition.

"According to the legislation, The Supreme Court of Magistrates proposes only the designation of the Supreme Court of Justice president, and not the dismissal", the Parliament's Speaker Mihai Ghimpu said, approving the decision.

The proposal came from the Parliament's Speaker. Most deputies present voted in favour of dismissing Ion Muruianu from his Supreme Court of Justice president role.

UNIMEDIA reads that Ion Muruianu called the journalists "mad dogs, a menace to society". Ion Muruianu's statements have been public, during one of his discourses during the General Assembly of Judges. Later, several mass-media institutions requested the official's resignation for his offences brought to the press.
