One of the most powerful underworld characters in Romania warned authorities to take serious measures to stop the felony wave involving children, a phenomenon spread across Europe which generated hostile reactions against Romanians at large. Known as the "Brilliant", he prides with a big history of thefts, Australian publication ABC News reads.

He warned that if underworld groups lead by Romanian co nationals do not stop using children in felonies, Romanian gypsies might face expulsion from EU countries. In the last 20 years, sentiments against gypsies are getting worse in Romania but in Europe as well, he said.

He said that any tourist in Europe knows that petty theft is a real problem in most countries where thieves are children aged below 14. Daniela, a 13 year old girl, quoted by the publication declared that she can earn 500 dollars from petty theft in Madrid.
