Representatives of the resort authorities responsible for financing from the Social European Fund together with those of the Court of Accounts admitted on Wednesday that after a check up, the European Commission temporary suspended funds for human resources towards Romania.

Officials explained for Hotnews.ro/EurActiv.ro that Brussels decided not to give any payments for the time being. Only one payment request is worth 8 million euro, submitted on February 11, not to mention other requests in the last month.

The European Commission checked the system in February and they temporarily decided to suspend payments because the electronic system was not working in Romania. According to these, authorities in Romania and Brussels are collaborating to deal with the problem.

Officials mentioned that the Labour Ministry will release an official press release to supply more data.
