EC reports presented are objective and correct, EC Spokesperson Mark Gray declared for the Romanian news agency Mediafax. He added that there is nothing to add to what it has already been presented by the Commission on Tuesday.

The European Commission published on Tuesday, the fourth annual report since the creation of the mechanism of cooperation on the state of the judicial system in Romania. The document also includes recommendations regarding the next steps.

The Executive invites Romania to take immediate measures in its fight against corruption, to modify the law on the National Integrity Agency, monitor sanctions on high level corruption cases and ensure transparence in public procurement.

The EC concludes that despite some progress in certain sectors, there are important stepbacks and Romania needs to take immediate action and politicians need to support the reform process.
