Thousands of people protested on Satuday in Paris against the campaign of French authorities to expel gypsies and the new security measures adopted by authorities, AP informs. Organizers declared that similar protests were organized in 135 cities across France.

Thousands of representatives of organizations defending human rights, anti-racist organizations and leftist parties attended the protest organized in the French capital. Protesters accused President Sarkzy of stigmatizing minorities and declared that the President breaches the French tradition to receive the opressed in a country that was the first country to offer political asylum.

AP reads that the protests on Saturday were the first public manifestationso rganized in France after Sarkozy announced the new measures to counter fellonies.
