Dennis Abbott, an EC spokesperson confused the Romani language with the Romanian language in a press conference at the European Commission on Wednesday. The confusion was corrected after the intervention of another spokesperson, Romanian news agency Mediafax informs.

Abbott, Spokesperson of the EC Commissioner for Culture and Education was presenting a series of events organized to mark the European day of languages. He was prompted, in French, about the Romani language.

He asked his colleague Pia Ahrenkilde if the question was not related to Romania. Even though she confirmed at first, she corrected that the question referred to the Romani language, spoken by Rroma people (Gypsies).
