France and Netherlands have not opposed the delivery to the European Parliament of documents to launch the procedure allowing Romania's Schengen accession, President Basescu said in a conference on Thursday.

He admitted that there have been talks whether a report in this regard, due to be released in December, should be waited for.

The comments came as French secretary for European Affairs Pierre Lellouche said on Wednesday France would make sure a EU decision on the accession of Romania and Bulgaria to Schengen would not be taken before summer 2011.

Basescu made the statement after he found that in Romania "it is understood France opposes the accession of Romania to Schengen on the basis of a French politician".
