Italian press: President Traian Basescu offered to host Tunisian immigrants

Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi was called by Romanian President Traian Basescu who offered to host 200 Tunisian immigrants, a press release of the Italian government reads quoted by the Italian press. Romania’s President offered Romania’s support to Italy in dealing with its massive immigration influx from North Africa and said Romania could host 200 Tunisian immigrants, a symbolic gesture of solidarity, the press release reads quoted by  

Berlusconi expressed his appreciation for the gesture, a gesture which he qualified as one of great friendship and solidarity. The piece of news is published by that names the President Prime Minister. Three days ago, Italian Interior minister Roberto Maroni complained about the lack of solidarity from other EU member states on the matter of African citizen’s immigration. Italy has faced a massive wave of immigrants from North Africa, who fled their countries following recent conflicts.
