Romania registered in May the biggest annual inflation rate among EU member states with an increase of prices of 8.5% compared to the same month in 2010 according to Eurostat, the European statistics institute. Inflation increased compared to the previous month when the indicator was 8.4%.

Romania is followed by Lithuania with 5% while Ireland with 1.2%, Sweden with 1.7% and Czech Republic with 2% registered the lowest inflation rates.
