Heavy snow falls and winds of over 100 km/hour that hit most of the country over the past couple of days have seriously affected several counties across Romania. Some 40 villages remained isolated by Thursday morning because of power cuts. Among the most affected counties are Buzau, Galati, Vrancea, Brasov.

In several counties, trains were cancelled and some remained stuck on the way, the Romanian public radio reported on Thursday, quoted by monitoring agency Rador.

On Thursday morning the traffic in Bucharest was completely paralyzed as the beginning of the shopping season overlapped with several days of heavy rains.
