Romania's national women handball team lost before Germany by only one point this weekend, only getting fourth place in the Handball World Cup with a 36-35 score despite a seven-point lead at breaktime. Germany managed to equal Romania in the last 32 seconds of the game and then won in the two additional rounds.

Romanian technician Gheorghe Tadici accused the performance of the referees whom he suspects to have helped with the German victory. Tadici had cricitized referees in the semifinals with Russia as well.

Despite leaving for France with the grand ambition of winning the world title, Tadici and his delegation concluded that they have fulfilled their objectives - which, on paper, said Romania should come among the first four. This grands that Romania will host pre-Olympic competition that will automatically open the road to the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games for the team.
