An employee working with the US Embassy to Bucharest who was involved in a serious car crash in the Romanian capital which caused serious injuries to a Romanian woman has left the country, Romanian newspaper Gardianul informs. According to the newspaper, agent Kevin Sandlin, an American Secret Services employee, left the country on Monday morning.

Embassy Press Office representatives told HotNews.ro on Tuesday that Sandlin will return shortly in Romania and that he left the country temporarily.

After the accident, Sandlin was put under investigation for injurying the person and refusing to give biological samples for the police to determine his alcoholemy. The file reached the Bucharest court on December 17 but the American has diplomatic immunity. Thus, the file has every chance at being classified.

Aged 34, Kevin Sandlin was involved in a car accident on December 11 and seriously injured a Romanian woman, aged 44. It turned out that the woman's husband is also a worker in the US Embassy.
