PM Dancila uses different wording in Romanian and English versions of letter to EC President Juncker: harsh approach in version for local media, mild one for official recipient
In the Romanian version she says the lifting of the main tool used by the EC to verify Romanian progress in the field of justice reform - the so-called Cooperation and Verification Mechanism - is a must. Meanwhile, in the letter in English, which was sent to Juncker, she opted for pointing out that the country "fulfills all the conditions" for the lifting of the CVM.
Elsewhere in the letter, the English version asks "if [a EC document] is the only document of its kind and whether it was capable of bringing, by its content or effects, interference with the proper functioning of justice and breach principles of law". The Romanian version is worded differently, alleging more clearly that the document was an act of interference - a translation of the Romanian text would be "if it s the only document of its kind, capable of interference with the functioning of justice and separation of powers".
