Romanian Foreign minister Melescanu reacts to critical EU Commissioner, says Romania remains pro-European
He said the country was ready to hold the Presidency of the EU Council next year.
Melescanu said Oettinger promoted a "discourse which counters the constructive and balanced attitude a European commissioner should manifest in relation to a full member state."
Oettinger said this week that the EU project was threatened by some within the Union who wanted to "weaken or destroy" it, naming Romania, Poland, Hungary and the Government of Italy in this regard.
