Participants in the Kosovska Mitrovica meeting against the Kosovo independence confronted the Police troops on Friday afternoon, in the sixth day in the row of protests aginst the newly formed state. On Thursday night, a similar meeting in Belgrade degenerated up to the level where one person died and at least 130 were injured.

Thousands of demonstrants gathered near the bridge that separates the Serb and the Albanian communities in Mitrovica. Police had to use tear gas grenades to prevent Serbian participants from reaching the Albanian side of town.

The Serbs in Mitrovica announced they will organize daily demonstrations in order to have the 1244th United Nations' resolution (referring to the Kosovo province statute) respected.
