American deputy State Secretary Nicholas Burns declared on Friday that the Kosovo independence does not create a precedent for possible separatist moves in Transylvania.

Ina statement made for HotNews.ro, the third ranking US State Department official in Washington tried to cast away any fears of those claiming that the Kosovo independence creates a precedent for separatist movements elsewhere in the world.

"The United States believe that the independence of Kosovo, due to its unique character, does not support comparing to any other cases of acute or potential regional conflicts", said Burns, emphasizing that the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Romania are recognized everywhere in the world.
