The mayor of the Romanian Black Sea city of Constanta, Radu Mazare accuses anti-graft prosecutors to have started a political campaign against him. He said on Thursday that he read in the newspapers that anti-graft prosecutors distraint his fortune the previous night. At their turn, anti-graft prosecutors denied that they took any action against him.

Radu Mazare is investigated in a case of abuse in service and suspicious real estate exchanges. Mazare organized a press conference on Thursday and argued that he urged anti-graft prosecutors to set up an expertize in its case, but their refused.

Moreover, Mazare argued that anti-graft prosecutors are just another instrument of the opposition as local elections are imminent.
