Judges Council discusses Gallup poll on Justice corruption

The Superior Magistrature Council (CSM) discusses on Wednesday, behind closed doors, a Gallup poll on how corrupt Romanians see the Justice system, as well as a report put up by Transparency International on the evolution of the system. The journalists were not allowed to participate in the meeting, CSM president Lidia Barbulescu announcing a press conference on Tuesday. was the first to publish the poll results on January 25, as well as an internal CSM note discussing "the opportunity to present the poll results in an appropriate manner".

After the poll results were published, CSM accused that "the truncated data once again shows that some desire an unprofessional relation, meant to affect the Justice system". The Gallup poll, financed by the World Bank, evaluates both the public and the inside professionals' perception on the system performance. According to the poll, Romanians consider that the most important problems of the Justice are the corruption, the lack of professionalism and the unclear legislation.
