The Romanian Senate rejected on Wednesday a law draft intended to ban the use of toxic food additives in food products (mainly bakery, meat and meat products), soft and alcoholic drinks, as well as a ban against similar imported goods. The draft failed with of 24 votes in favor, 27 abstentions and 30 votes against. Still, the House of Deputies will open the debates on the subject.

The project also received a negative note from the Agriculture Commission in the Senate. According to the draft, the Government should put up the list of toxic additives.
