The derby between two Bucharest teams, Rapid and Steaua, was ended in the 73rd minute, after the referee was almost hit by a cigarette lighter. The supporters ignored the "three minute break for making order" so the game was stopped for good.

Rapid was leading 1:0, but will most probably lose 0:3 at the green table.

Mircea Rednic, Rapid coach, instantly resigned.

HotNews.ro calculated that the cigarette lighter cost Rapid 10 million euro, the money it would have earned by winning the game and qualifying to the Champions League.

UPDATE

Romanian Football Federation decided to postpone a decision in the case of the supporter violence during the game. In a precedent in Champions League, when the referee was hit by a coin, the game was won by Dinamo Kiev, in front of AS Roma. In Romania, a former international referee pleads for 0:3, Steaua manager Valeriu Argaseala would be happy with the decision, while Rapid manager demands the re-opening of the game, starting with the 74th minute.
