United States fully understands Romania's priorities but especially those of the region, Romanian President Traian Basescu declared after his meeting at Neptun with his American counterpart George W. Bush. The two leaders addressed NATO's expansion, troop expansion in Afghanistan and he anti-racket shield in Europe.

The meeting of the two leaders took place several hours after President Bush sustained a public discourse at the Marshall Fund Bucharest Conference in which he referred at the main objectives of NATO.

The two discussed NATO's need for more troops in Afghanistan, the security of the Balkan region and the missile shield. Moreover, President Basescu also addressed some sensitive issues for Romanians, namely the visa waivers for Romanian citizens wishing to travel in US.
