White House leader George W. Bush met Romanian PM Tariceanu at the Government HQ on Friday. Bush reassured that the United States will cooperate with the government to understand why the rate at which US visas for Romanian citizens are rejected is so high.

Visa issues will be dealt in a more transparent manner, and consulates will give away the main reasons for rejections. Bush added that he fully understood the dissatisfaction of Romanians on this matter.

The two leaders were accompanied by American Ambassador to Romania Nicholas Taubman, US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, several US counsellor and White House spokesperson Dana Perino.

On the Romanian side, Foreign Affairs minister Adrian Cioroianu, Defense minister Teodor Melescanu, Head of the Chancellery Dorin Marian, Romanian Ambassador to the US Adrian Vierita and other counsellors were present, together with the Chancellery spokesperson Camelia Spataru.
