The Senate adopted on Tuesday the Governmental ordinance on banning all advertising to tobacco products in printed media, cinema halls, outdoor boards and public transport. The ordinance also bans the free distribution of tobacco products to youngsters under 18, as well as the sponsoring of minors-dedicated events by tobacco producing companies.

In the same ordinance adopted by the Senate, the advertising to tobacco products is also banned in using brands for other products and services related to the tobacco trade - except for smoking paraphernalia, such as ashtrays, lighters and matches.

The sale or free offering of food samples and toys resembling the tobacco products or their packaging.

The ordinance must also be adopted by the House of Deputies.
