The international press covered extensively the latest scandal in the Romanian football championship. German Die Welt publishes a large article about the Romanian First League, which appears as a cooperation business where the main character is a former shepherd, Gigi Becali. Articles on the same subject were also published by Reuters, Eurosport, France Football and Marca, as well as in the Canadian media and even in Angola.

Die Welt discusses few of the latest games in the Romanian championship, pointing at victories that allow the publication to say that the entire first league is a cooperation-like business, where the main practice is to sell points.

Reuters informs, in an article called "Romania launches championship corruption probe" that "Romanian prosecutors said on Thursday they had launched a criminal investigation into possible corruption involving the Romanian championship. "It is about unraveling criminal action in a corruption case," a statement from Romania's anti-corruption department (DNA) said. "The names involved and the responsibilities will be made known when the inquiry allows it."
