There was no early news of possible victims or injuries but there has been at least one explosion at the site.
The fire official said the fire, which started before dawn, was contained and firefighters were trying to prevent the flames from spreading. Some 100 firefighers were deployed there.
According to New York Times, the fire destroyed several buildings and forced the evacuation of some areas.
