The tax that stirred the widest controversy in Romania, bringing the Government one step far from the European Court of Justice, the car registration tax, reached its final shape. The difference between the money already paid by car buyers and the lower taxes imposed by the latest version will be refunded, starting on July 1, within 45 days after the application is submitted.
The sums will be reimbursed in the national currency, according to the exchange rate valid in the day of refunding, but only after the claimer proves he has no debts towards the state.
