The 11-year old Romanian from Neamt, North Romania, who got pregnant after a sexual abuse underwent a successful abortion intervention at a state hospital in London, Romanian news television Antena 3 informs. The girl has been in London for the whole week but representatives of the private hospital where she was initially supposed to have the abortion refused to perform the surgery.
Thus the girl was transferred to a state hospital in London where she successfully underwent the intervention. In Britain, the minimum legal age for abortions is 12 years old. Thus, doctors who operated the little girl needed a special authorization from local authorities.
The girl was sexually abused by her 19-year old uncle and her pregnancy was in 22 weeks. Such an advanced stage presented serious dangers for the child's health.
